I think because Holocaust was so cruel and awful thing that humans did. The books, movies, documentaries and etc are critize us that he should not do horrible thing again. Like other history we should learn from the past and try not to do it again. Human beings are sinners and they do many awful things. Not only the Holocaust, in the world, there are many horredous things concern with killing people or persecuting people. So through those kind of things like books and movies, we can control ourselves and try not to do persecuting people and killing people. We should keep retelling this story, because this remind us and guide us not to do it again.
