I know that the gloves were her daughter's which is Anne Frank. When he saw it, he break down and cried. He was very missing her. This is the foreshadowing before the story begin. He was crying because she was his lovely daughter but she died in such a little age. I think on the one hand he was sorry to his daughter and the other hand he had a grudge to God.

I also think it was the daughter's, but I think you inferred it using just the fact that Anne was Mr. Frank's beloved daughter. In the book there is a quote that mentions Anne wearing white gloves. From that quote you may infer that those gloves were Anne's. Nice blog!! I too think Mr. Frank broke down because Anne was his daughter who had died at such a short age. I also think Anne’s was his favorite. It is always sad when you lose someone you love
